Experiment 3: Mashup of 3 News Articles

SOFT power is the ability to obtain the outcomes one wants through attraction rather than using the carrots and sticks of payment or COERCION. Never had we seen someone so INDEPENDENT and THOUGHTFUL, and possess in abundance a COCKY confidence that have us in awe. Power rests on SINCERITY, BOLDNESS, EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, VISION and COMMUNICATION, and above all a certain above-the-fray quality and a flat out disregard for what others think. It may mean being MEAN to others to get your own way.

Final UT2004 Environment

I have decided to create a labyrinth, as one portion of my first client's space (which is Alfred Nobel), with only one door leading to the second part of my client's space, to symbolise the concept that sometimes a person may have many ideas; however many of those ideas may encounter with obstacles that hinder its progress to being fully developed.

A dark and mystical corridor to illustrate the idea that sometimes we have to journey into the unknown or "probe the dark" when coming up with ideas.

Texture Medium

The glass which separates the first area from the second of my first client's space is to indicate that the first area is intended to be a space for conducting experiments, which would accomodate Nobel (being a scientist) in doing scientific research.

Main facility designed for Nobel to work in. I wanted to create a high tech and sterile environment, as I believe it is common for many scientists to work in this type of setting. Also I wanted the space to be avant-garde in order to symbolise Nobel's innovativeness.

My intention for the interior of the meeting place is that it should be constructed in a similar vain to a normal conference room, as I believe that since both of my clients are scientists, the most likely place that they would meet would be at a scientific congregation where they could exchange ideas with each other. I wanted the inside to have a classical look, as I believe this setting would be better suited for two well renowned scientists.

Texture Light

I decided to have my ramp in the shape of an anchor, which is connected to Jacques-Yves Cousteau’s space to illustrate the idea of sometimes being "bolted to the earth". The anchor is also a reference to Cousteau's marine interests and heavy participation in marine conservation.

Some parts of the ramp have a watery texture to evoke the concept of "escaping gravity in order to be free" and find enlightenment.

At the top of this edifice, I have put a solar panel, as since Cousteau is an environmentalist, I would imagine him to be an eco-friendly and energy-efficient person.

Texture Dark

The grass in the space is to reflect the concept of Cousteau being an environmentalist and a conservationist.

The custom texture applied is related to Cousteau's love of the sea.

The idea behind a ship suspended in mid-air is to signify the concept of defying gravity or breaking away from being bounded by gravity in order to be unconstrained.
